Prison Radio Show – December 12, 2013

We have our monthly segment on birthdays of North American political prisoners that take place in the month of December. This information is obtained from sources in the US. Many political prisoners in the US have languished inside for years, often decades. It should be noted that this list is not necessarily complete and we recognize that there are possibly many more political prisoners and P.O.W.s.

We have a feature piece about the school to prison pipeline for Indigenous youth in Canada, looking at how the Canadian school system places many First Nations youth on a trajectory to coming in contact with the criminal legal system and incarceration.

We re-broadcast a poem written by federal prisoner Nyki Kish and read out by an activist as well as reading some short news items.
