We begin our show with out on-going coverage on the California Prisoner Hunger Strike by airing a speech by former SHU prisoner who spent 4 years in the Pelican Bay State Prison, Steven Czifra. We then proceed with an interview with Laura Magnani from the American Friends Service Committee in San Francisco. Ms. Magnani is a nationally known expert on solitary confinement.
We have an interview with Paulette D’auteuil who is the National Secretary of the Jericho Movement. This group works for the release of U.S. political prisoners including Leonard Peltier and Lynne Stewart, as well as the safety of U.S. citizens in exile.
We have an update on the Angola 3. Two members of the Angola 3, Herman Wallace and Albert Woodfox, remain behind bars. Both of them have spent over 41 years in solitary confinement. Robert King, was released in 2001 after 31 years, 29 of which he did in solitary confinement. Herman Wallace was diagnosed with liver cancer and supporters are campaigning for his compassionate release. We interviewed Tory Pegram, long-time supporter in the case of the Angola 3 and we spoke to her in regards to Herman’s present condition as well as what is going on with the case of Albert Woodfox.
