We have a feature interview with Kevin Walby an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Victoria. In the book “Critical Criminology in Canada, New Voices, New Directions,” published in 2011 by UBC Press, Walby contributed an essay titled: “Anarcho-Abolition: a Challenge of Conservative and Liberal Criminology.” In our interview with Kevin Walby we will discuss his article as well as other subjects, such as: What is Critical Criminology? and police profiling of activists.

Birthdays: So many birthdays are spent behind bars. Today, we’re sharing the dates of birthdays of North American Political Prisoners that take place in the month of May. This information is obtained from sources in the US. Many of these political prisoners have languished inside for years, often decades. It should be noted that this list is not necessarily complete.

News from Ohio State Penitentiary about the 3 out of the Lucasville 5 who are presently on death row, Imam Hasan, Keith LaMar (also known as Bomani Shakur) and Jason Robb along with prisoner Gregory Curry who is sentenced to Life in Prison, were on a hunger strike since April 11th which is also the 20th anniversary of the Lucasville rebellion.

We also have an interview, Life from Death Row, with Imam Hasan, on the hunger strike that ended Monday May 6.
